The Association’s definition of Safe Beauty is: “To deliver a professional product or service that respects the health and hygiene of customers to the highest levels achievable”. With this objective in mind, our desire is to work with Government, educational bodies, individuals and those who are involved and associated with the makeup and beauty industries to develop and introduce a new Code of Practice for the industry.
To practise medicine in the UK, all doctors are required by law to be both registered and hold a licence to practise.
Doctors work in many different environments. Those who treat patients must be registered with a licence to practise. This applies to all doctors irrespective of whether they practise full time, part time, as a locum, privately or in the NHS, or whether they are employed or self-employed.
Accreditation to the SBA is the fist steps to licensing the makeup and beauty industry and allows us revalidate members annually. This new approach to a simple form of regulation within the beauty and makeup works will give clients and employers regular assurance that their practitioners and employees are up to date and fit to practise.
The SBA code of conduct
SBA membership requires all those to sign up and agree the Safe Beauty Association’s Code of Conduct. For a copy please click here.
Why the SBA has a register of members
Patients trust doctors with their lives and wellbeing. They need to have confidence that doctors are competent in their field and abide by high ethical standards. The same should apply to the beauty industry and, therefore, we are introducing the register or SBA members. This is accessible to the public through the SBA web site or via telephone.
Through the annual revalidation process, the SBA aims to keep all member's records uptodate.
Accessing SBA members
You can check whether a beauty practitioner or makeup artist is on the register online. Our online register is called the Member’s Directory which you can find here.
Information for employers
If you are a llooking for educational programmes, you should look for those schools, individuals and educational establishments who are aware of the SBA and who practise SAFE BEAUTY. Through our directory you can quickly see who’s a member and who isn’t and be sure that you are being taught (at whatever level) by educators who recognise the importance of SAFE BEAUTY in education and in the learning environment.
Annual revalidation
SBA membership requres validation on joining and subsequently when annual is renewed. This will mean that all SBA members will regularly have to prove to us that they are up to date with public liability insurance and fit to practise their trade.
